Festival Programme

The Food and Farming Festival will take place over the weekend of 4/5 September 2010. These dates will coincide with the Scottish Food Fortnight. Events are being organised and will take place on the Saturday in The Square, Huntly and on the Sunday at The Mart on the edge of the town.

The main events in the programme for these two days are listed below. A full programme will be available here in .pdf format as the preparations develop.

In addition to events on the day, there will be a number of other events taking place outside of the two main venues. Some of these will be over the weekend of the Festival, others will be on various dates over a few weeks. These will include :

  • 'Into the Wild' dramatic performances by Dudendance
  • Screenings of food related films

'Into the Wild'

Dudendance Theatre: Into The Wild- magical woods walk.

Spot the curious wildlife and listen out for bygone stories on a performance promenade that winds through the Battlehill Woods and ends in afternoon tea. Into The Wild involves members of the Huntly community and three international collaborators working on a performance and film to celebrate Battlehill Woods.

All ages welcome- please come prepared for a walk in the woods - partly wheelchair accessible.

Flicks in the Sticks... a selection of food-related films for the Hairst season.

The Pope's Toilet (cert 15) Thursday 19th August, 7.30pm.
A Uruguayan village becomes totally focussed on the mass production of spicy sausages to feed the faithful during a Papal visit, in this humorous South American drama. Subtitles.

A Private Function (cert 15) Thursday 16th September, 7.30pm.
Michael Palin and Maggie Smith star in this tale of a post-war Yorkshire community attempting to illicitly fatten a pig for the town banquet.

Julie & Julia (cert 12A) Thursday 30th September, 7.30pm.
Intertwined stories of a blogger who challenges herself to cook every recipe in a cook book, and the early career of the cookery writer who wrote the book. Starring Meryl Streep.

Couscous (cert 15) Thursday 21st October, 7.30pm.
A North African immigrant to France has ambitions to establish a restaurant as an inheritance for his large and disparate family. Subtitles.
