Festival Programme

This year's Food and Farming Festival will take place on Saturday 3 September 2016. This date will coincide with the Scottish Food Fortnight. Events take place on the Saturday in The Square, Huntly and in the Stewarts Hall, Gordon Street.

The 2016 programme will be updated as details are confirmed and will be downloadable here as soon as it is available. Further details of some of these events are available on the ' Events' page.

In addition to events on the day, there will be a number of other events taking place outside of the two main venues. Some of these will be over the weekend of the Festival, others will be on various dates over the weeks until Halloween. These will include the following:

  • Screenings of films
  • Open music session
  • Walk to Gartly Moor

Extended Farmers Market with over 40 stalls showcasing the best of local producers, 9.00 – 16.00
Food demonstrations Details on the 'Events' page. 10:30 - 14:00
Children’s Entertainment including face-painting, and bouncy castles, 9.00 – 16.00
TechFest science workshops
Huntly Community Bookshop 'MidSummer Night's Dream' display, Orb's Bookshop, Deveron St.
Huntly Writers Stall, face painting, books by local writers. The Square, 9am-4pm
Bee keeping talks, Huntly Library, 11:15 and 13:45.
5k & 10km  Fun Run - from the Square, details and times on the 'Events' page. Juniors 10:00, 5km 11:00.

AT THE STEWARTS HALL:

Craft events in the New Hall, all day
Coffee morning in the Main Hall – In aid of 'Help for Heroes', 10.30- 12.00
World Stovies Championship in the Main Hall. Could you be the next World Champion? Judging at 16.00 (bring your entries from 10.30 to the Stewarts Hall)
Shortbread Competition in the Main Hall. Who makes the best shortbread in the Huntly area? Deans will be the judges. Judging at 16.00 (bring your entries from 10.30 to the Stewarts Hall)
Chidren's Fairy Cake competition in the Main Hall. Judging at 16.00 (bring your entries from 10.30 to the Stewarts Hall).

Tin Hut Session Open music session on a Food and Farming theme. Musicians, singers and audience welcome. Free entry. Bring your own refreshments. The Tin Hut, Gartly, 20.00 – 22.30..

Friday 2nd September 2016

Sunday 4th September 2016

Harvest Festival service, Christ Church, Huntly, 10:30am.

Saturday 1st October 2016

Tin Hut Supper. 'Hunted and Gathered' - a 6 course meal including a welcome drink showcasing seasonal ingredients from Scotland's Natural Larder. Chef - Lesley Gillespie
