In 2002, Deveron Arts organised a special Halloween festival in Huntly. The festival ran over a number of days at the end of October, bringing artists and community together to celebrate the ancient Scottish traditions.

Since then, this Halloween festival has grown into HAIRST, a unique annual Harvest festival taking place in Huntly. This family event celebrates the food and traditions of Aberdeenshire. It has something for everyone, from the legendary Halloween parade to the Best Stovies in the World competition.

2009 saw HAIRST festival develop into a full Harvest season, which kicked off at the start of September with the very successful Food and Farming Festival. HAIRST ended with Halloween in Huntly, which ran from the 31st of October until the 8th of November.

The Festival is organised by a group of volunteers, who give their time to promote the produce and producers of Aberdeenshire and provide an enjoyable event for local residents and visitors. The intention has always been, and hopefully will remain, to provide a free event and, to this end, we have to raise funds for essential expenses. Unfortunately this year, 2015, we have fewer people able to give their time and we have had to take the decision to limit the event to only one day. This will be Saturday 5 September in Huntly Square and Stewarts Hall. We always welcome fresh volunteers and hope that it may be possible to return to the two day format in future years.

Unfortunately for 2015 we have had a reduction in the number of people able to commit their time to the event. Consequently, we will be unable to provide as extensive an event as in previous years and we have taken the decision to limit the event to one day only for this year. We hope that in future years it may be possible to return the event to a two day format, and, in this regard, would welcome anyone who would like to help.

Huntly is in Aberdeenshire, which is in the North East of Scotland. It is easy to access Huntly - with good bus and train routes. It is also just off the A96, if you are driving. If you would like more information about the town and local area, go to www.huntly.net.
